‘Kidnapper’ Chinese fugitive nabbed
A Chinese national, identified as Hu Yang, also known as Lin Zihao, has been apprehended in Paranaque City by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in coordination with local police and Chinese authorities.
The 37-year-old fugitive was arrested on Sunday, September 23, in Barangay Tambo.
Hu Yang is wanted in China by the Public Security Bureau of Jinjiang City for kidnapping and is alleged to be a member of a syndicate known for torturing and killing victims.
Several of Hu Yang's accomplices were previously arrested by the BI earlier this year in Metro Manila and Pampanga.
BI OIC Joel Anthony Viado stated that the arrest is a significant step in the bureau's ongoing efforts to capture foreign criminals residing in the Philippines.
Hu's passport has been revoked, and he will remain under local police custody while facing a local case in the Philippines.
Viado affirmed the BI's commitment to collaborating with international counterparts to ensure accountability for lawbreakers.
