The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has donated forfeited goods, including tents and mobile power supplies, to aid residents affected by the earthquake in Cebu.
The BOC turned over 1,087 assorted tents, 56 Rapid Emergency Tents, and 50 mobile power supplies to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
BOC employees also donated over 100 sacks of rice to the earthquake victims.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno stated that the donations align with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive to assist countrymen recovering from the earthquake.
The forfeited items, which were originally intended for auction, were released after undergoing customs procedures and clearance.
The relief goods were delivered by a Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft to Medellin and Bogo City.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Undersecretary Harold Cabreros noted that the earthquake destroyed some 3,200 homes and partially damaged 30,000 houses, increasing the need for tents.
A second batch of aid from the BOC is expected to follow in the coming days.
