P50M aid caravan dispatched to Cebu and Masbate

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), along with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), has dispatched a P50 million aid caravan to deliver essential supplies to families affected by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu and Masbate.

The caravan, comprising 23 trucks and ambulances, departed from Pasig City and includes 18,220 'charitimba' packs, 4,041 evacuation kits, 664 boxes of medicines, and 7,974 other relief items.

One truck is specifically assigned to deliver relief goods to Burias Island and Ticao Island in Masbate.

PCSO official Jeremy Regino described the destruction in Masbate as comparable to a 'mini Yolanda devastation'.

LRT Line 2 stations will serve as donation drop-off points for displaced residents of Masbate and Cebu.

PCSO General Manager Mel Robles and MMDA Chairman Romando Artes have pledged continued collaboration to send further assistance to disaster-stricken areas.
