Iloilo gov't allots P43.5M aid for Covid-19 fight

The Iloilo provincial government has allocated P43.5 million in financial aid to its 43 towns and municipalities to support the fight against Covid-19.

Each local government unit (LGU) will receive at least P1 million, with the municipality of Guimbal receiving P1.5 million as it reported the province's first Covid-19 case.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. stated that the funds are intended to help LGUs procure necessary resources such as personal protective equipment (PPEs), thermal scanners, and disinfectants.

The aid can also be used for food packs for front-line workers and relief goods for those displaced by the pandemic.

Defensor emphasized the importance of capacitating mayors as front-liners, enabling them to provide transportation for workers and strengthen relief operations.
