3 NAIA cops test positive for COVID-19

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) confirmed that three airport police officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have tested positive for COVID-19.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal stated that one of the three has tested negative in a secondary test, and another has also tested negative but awaits clearance from their local government.

He urged both NAIA personnel and passengers to strictly adhere to safety measures, including social distancing and proper hygiene.

The MIAA has provided its staff with face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducts constant sanitation in accordance with Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.

Airport operations have been drastically reduced due to travel restrictions, with passenger and commercial flights to and from the Philippines temporarily suspended starting May 3.

The DOH reported 10,004 COVID-19 cases in the country as of Wednesday, with 658 deaths and 1,506 recoveries.
