22 repatriated OFWs in Western Visayas test positive for COVID-19

Twenty-two repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Western Visayas have tested positive for COVID-19, arriving in batches since April 9.

These 22 infected repatriates contribute to the region's total of 91 COVID-19 cases.

Iloilo City leads with seven cases, followed by Negros Occidental with four, Antique and Iloilo provinces with three each, and Guimaras with two.

Bacolod City has two infected repatriated OFWs, while Capiz has none.

Only one repatriated OFW from Iloilo province has recovered.

Of the remaining 20 active cases, 14 are in strict isolation and seven are hospitalized.

Another batch of 41 repatriated OFWs, mostly seafarers, arrived on Saturday from Metro Manila and will undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

These recent arrivals tested negative for COVID-19 via RT-PCR before departing Manila, unlike previous batches who experienced conflicting results with rapid tests.
