Sen Zubiri urges Marcos to tackle inflation, wage hike, POGO policy in SONA

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri outlined topics he expects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to address in his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22.

Zubiri emphasized the need for the president to tackle inflation and propose a legislated wage hike to benefit working-class Filipinos.

He also called for decisive action regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), urging a clear policy on whether there will be an immediate ban or a phased transition to other industries.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman George Erwin Garcia hopes the President will remind Filipinos about the importance of their vote as the country gears up for midterm elections in 2025.

Former government officials also urged Marcos to address poverty alleviation, education, and job creation alongside issues related to health, nutrition, and the West Philippine Sea.
