5 arrested, PHP6.8M shabu seized in Zamboanga

Authorities in Zamboanga City have apprehended five individuals, including three students, and seized more than PHP6.8 million worth of shabu in separate anti-drug operations across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Two suspects, Junny Duke Bariño, 26, and Shadhi Abdua, 24, were arrested during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Divisoria on Tuesday afternoon, with authorities confiscating one kilogram of suspected shabu valued at PHP6.8 million.

In another raid in Barangay Veterans, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay province, three college students aged 22 to 23 were arrested inside an alleged drug den where 10 grams of suspected shabu and other paraphernalia were seized.

All five individuals are now under custody facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

This recent round of arrests follows another operation earlier this week in which three individuals were apprehended with PHP20.4 million worth of shabu, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and use in the region.
