Zamboanga City under MECQ starting May 8

Zamboanga City was placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting May 8, as a result of rising coronavirus cases.

The National Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging and Infectious Diseases declared the MECQ after the city reported 1,994 active cases and 272 deaths as of May 7.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar urged compliance with health protocols and guidelines provided under Executive Order 656-2021.

Under MECQ, essential establishments will remain open but movement is limited to accessing essential goods and services and for work. Curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. will be imposed.
