Zamboanga detects 51 South African COVID-19 variant cases

Zamboanga City has detected 51 cases of the B.1.351 variant first identified in South Africa, with one case of the P.3 variant also found.

Of the 257 samples sent for genome sequencing, 52 were variants of concern; 37 have recovered and 15 have died, some due to comorbidities.

The DOH continues to call for strict adherence to public health measures as they push for mass vaccination.
