DOH detects over 200 more COVID-19 variant cases

The Department of Health reported on Saturday that more COVID-19 variants have been detected in the Philippines.

One additional B.1.617.2 (India) variant case was found, along with 104 B.1.1.7 (United Kingdom), 137 B.1.351 (South Africa), and four P.3 cases.

The total number of variants now stands at 13 B.1.617.2, 1,071 B.1.1.7, 1,246 B.1.351, and 162 P.3 variant cases out of 7,547 sequenced samples.

The new B.1.617.2 case is a recovered returning overseas Filipino from the United Arab Emirates, while among the additional B.1.1.7 cases, one is an ROF, 89 are local cases, and 14 are still under verification.
