WHO: Global COVID-19 cases, deaths drop by 89%, 62%

The World Health Organization reports a significant decline in COVID-19 cases and deaths globally.

From January 23 to February 19, nearly 5.3 million new cases and over 48,000 deaths were reported, marking an 89% decrease in cases and a 62% drop in deaths compared to the previous month.

The Western Pacific Region, including the Philippines, saw a 94% decline in reported cases and a 77% reduction in deaths during this period.

However, WHO attributes these declines partly to reduced testing and reporting delays in many countries.
