Spox: Face shields now mandatory in malls

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that the National Task Force (NTF) now requires people to wear face shields in addition to masks when entering commercial establishments like malls.

The NTF, led by Secretary Carlito Galvez, also mandates wearing face shields on public transportation and at workplaces.

Previously, only public transport and work places required face shield usage; the new rule extends this requirement to enclosed spaces such as shopping centers.

DOTr had earlier mandated passengers to wear both face masks and shields for protection against COVID-19.

The Department of Health cited studies showing that wearing a mask and shield together provides 99% protection against the virus.
