Aurora adopts GCQ despite initial preference for ECQ

Aurora Governor Gerardo Noveras adopted a general community quarantine (GCQ) on May 2 despite initially preferring to keep the province under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Noveras issued an executive order setting interim guidelines for GCQ implementation, superseding his previous order that directed Aurora municipalities to continue ECQ protocols.

On May 1, some residents supported Noveras' decision while others were concerned about their livelihoods and lack of access to government emergency subsidies.
