VP Sara Duterte's team files comment on House motion

Vice President Sara Duterte's defense team submitted their comment on the motion for reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, August 19.

Michael Poa, one of Duterte's legal counsels, confirmed that the document was filed with the court on Monday, August 18.

Poa stated that they would not provide a copy of the comment nor grant media interviews due to the sub judice rule and respect for judicial process.

In July, the Supreme Court halted the Senate impeachment trial of Duterte, citing a constitutional provision against multiple impeachment proceedings within one year.

On August 4, the House filed a motion for reconsideration arguing that the court's decision was based on supposed factual errors and did not violate Duterte's right to due process.

The Senate had previously voted to archive Duterte's impeachment case earlier in the month.
