Over one in three Filipinos disagree with SC ruling on VP Duterte-Carpio impeachment

A recent WR Numero Research poll indicates that more than one in three Filipinos disagree with the Supreme Court's decision declaring Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio's impeachment case unconstitutional, while 26% agree and nearly 40% remain undecided.

The survey conducted from July 29 to August 6 found that awareness of the VP facing impeachment is high among Filipinos, with 67.4% aware but only 6% claiming sufficient knowledge about the case.

Cleve Arguelles, WR Numero president and political scientist, noted at a press briefing that social desirability bias may also be shaping non-majority opinion.

WR Numero's survey revealed that 43% of respondents are completely unaware of the allegations and evidence cited in the impeachment complaint against Duterte, while only one-fourth believe they know enough about it.

Despite the controversy, Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio remains the top choice for the 2028 presidential election according to WR Numero's poll, with 31% of respondents preferring her over other candidates like Maria Leonor Robredo and Christopher Go.
