Lamina wins CPC Player of the Week for women, Saavedra earns it for men

Veteran athletes are taking center stage as the UAAP Season 87 volleyball tournaments kicked off on February 15.

National University's senior setter Lams Lamina continued her exceptional leadership with a total of 23 excellent sets in NU's five-set victory over FEU, earning her the first Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) Player of the Week award for women presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

For her steady hands and mind to lead the defending champions, Lamina also won the weekly citation after a masterful 20-excellent-set debut against La Salle.

On the men's side, reigning Best Opposite Spiker Dryx Saavedra led FEU to a historic sweep against defending champions NU Bulldogs with 17 points off attacks and blocks in their match, marking FEU's first victory over NU in six years.

Saavedra earned his own Player of the Week recognition for his consistent performances and expressed joy at FEU's renewed mental toughness and preparation.
