Velasco, Cayetano reconcile after speakership dispute

Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco and Taguig-Representative Alan Peter Cayetano have reconciled after a dispute over the House speakership.

Velasco was elected Speaker by 186 lawmakers on Monday in an event outside Batasang Pambansa, which Cayetano deemed illegal.

On Tuesday, Velasco met with President Duterte and extended a 'healing hand' to Cayetano during a special session of the House.

Cayetano had initially been elected Speaker but lost support after disagreements over budget deliberations.
