Duterte delivers final SONA amid Delta variant

President Rodrigo Duterte delivered his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 26.

The speech was held amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of the Delta variant.

Duterte highlighted improvements in testing capacity, bed availability for treatment facilities, and the establishment of modular hospitals with private sector assistance.

Over 30 million vaccine doses have been received, with more expected to arrive soon.

The President emphasized completed initiatives such as free education and universal healthcare while reflecting on his term's challenges.

Spokesperson Harry Roque assured that the SONA would focus on recovery plans from the pandemic without touching political plans for 2022.
