Umandal back on feet after injury in championship

Jau Umandal of the Cignal HD Spikers missed the team's championship-clinching win against Criss Cross due to an injury but has since resumed normal activities.

During a tied third set, Umandal collided with Criss Cross player Jude Garcia and was stretchered off the court after scoring 18 points in the crucial match that Cignal won 25-23, 27-25, 25-21 without his participation.

Umandal was taken to Adventist Medical Center Manila where he is reported to be conscious and responsive, with scans showing no serious issues.

The HD Spikers' team manager Juanito Gregorio stated they are waiting for clearance for Umandal to join the celebration with his teammates, while coach Dexter Clamor dedicated their victory to him.

On Saturday, Umandal was at Smart Araneta Coliseum cheering for his brother Sherwin and University of Santo Tomas in the first game of the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball Finals.
