Tulfo calls for ban on online gambling ads, gov signs MOU with ASC

Senator Raffy Tulfo has called for a total ban on online gambling advertisements, citing concerns over celebrity endorsements and their impact on vulnerable individuals.

Tulfo emphasized that celebrities promoting online gambling may be unaware of the real-world consequences, including addiction and financial ruin affecting their own relatives or followers.

The senator stressed the responsibility of public figures to consider the impact of their content on communities and warned that some followers might suffer severe repercussions due to such endorsements.

In response, the government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ad Standards Council for the regulation and pre-screening of gambling-related advertisements across all media platforms.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will now require all branded or corporate gambling ads to be reviewed and approved by the ASC before release.
