Sara Duterte opposes online gambling during rally in Netherlands

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed opposition to online gambling during an interview at the Free Duterte Now rally in The Hague, Netherlands on Saturday.

Duterte stated that she is against all forms of online gambling because parents cannot control their children's access to it via the internet and emphasized that online gambling makes it easy for Filipinos to lose money and often leads families into debt.

The vice president also mentioned her support for regulated gambling where not everyone can participate, but she opposes placing such gambling online due to lack of control over who can open accounts.

Several lawmakers from both the Senate and House of Representatives have proposed an outright ban on online gambling, believing that regulation would be insufficient, with bills like the 'Kontra E-Sugal Bill' seeking to address worsening gambling addiction, particularly among the youth.

The Department of Health has stated that online gambling is a health issue affecting job performance and potentially causing harm.
