Tropical depression forms east of Northern Luzon, no threat to PH

A low-pressure area (LPA) designated as 7d developed into a tropical depression on Monday, according to Pagasa.

As of 8 p.m., the tropical depression was located 1,870 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds up to 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 70 kph.

The system is moving northward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour but is not expected to enter Philippine waters, according to Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda.

Castañeda also stated that the tropical depression will have no effect on any part of the country.
