Tropical Storm Crising strengthens, TCWS No. 2 raised for Cagayan, Batanes, Ilocos Norte

Tropical Storm Crising intensified slightly and is approaching Cagayan and Babuyan Islands in Luzon, prompting Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 over five areas on Saturday morning.

PAGASA raised TCWS No. 2 for Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, parts of Apayao, and parts of Abra.

Under TCWS No. 1 are several areas in Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, and other regions.

Crising is currently located 125 kilometers west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near its center, moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

PAGASA forecasts that Crising may make landfall over northern Luzon on Saturday afternoon or evening and could intensify to a severe tropical storm by Sunday morning as it approaches southern China.
