Tolentino records first PBA triple-double

Arvin Tolentino recorded his first PBA career triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists as NorthPort Batang Pier defeated TerraFirma Dyip 133-107 on Sunday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

NorthPort never trailed, starting with a dominant first quarter of 33-11 and maintaining their lead throughout the game to improve their record to 3-3 in the 2024 PBA Governors' Cup.

Tolentino emphasized his goal to showcase his all-around skills beyond scoring, contributing significantly to NorthPort's victory with a commanding performance.

Coach Bonnie Tan celebrated Tolentino's triple-double on the day before his 52nd birthday, while TerraFirma remained winless at 0-6 due to injuries that sidelined key players Juami Tiongson and Kemark Cariño.

NorthPort shot an impressive 58.6% from the field and out-rebounded TerraFirma 57-46, with Christian Standhardinger leading the Dyip with 22 points and 10 rebounds before exiting late in the game due to a leg injury.

Tolentino expressed his desire for NorthPort to secure more wins against teams below them and try their best against those higher in the standings as they prepare for upcoming matches.

NorthPort faces Converge on Wednesday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, aiming to build on Tolentino's career-high 51-point performance from a previous encounter.
