Three Filipino cardinals to participate in 2025 papal conclave

The 2025 papal conclave will see three Filipino cardinals participating, marking an increase from previous conclaves and underscoring the Philippines' growing influence within the Catholic Church.

Cardinals Luis Antonio Tagle, Jose Advincula of Manila, and Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan are set to cast their ballots in the Sistine Chapel starting May 7.

Tagle, who holds a key Vatican position as pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, is seen as a prominent figure among the electors and has been previously involved in a conclave.

Advincula, appointed to the College of Cardinals in 2020 while still archbishop of Capiz, represents a new generation of Filipino church leaders educated at prestigious institutions like Santo Tomas University.
