Cardinal Tagle selected by lottery to assist Camerlengo in papal conclave prep

Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle was selected by lottery alongside German Cardinal Reinhard Marx and French Cardinal Dominique Mamberti to assist the Camerlengo, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, in preparing for the papal conclave set to begin on May 7 following Pope Francis' death.

The Particular Congregation will oversee some administrative tasks during the sede vacante, with Tagle's role being rotating and subject to change every three days as decided by the General Congregation.

Over 180 cardinals gathered for a general congregation on Monday, April 28, discussing topics such as evangelization, interfaith relations, and abuse issues.

Cardinals also had the opportunity during the congregation to address the Church's relationship with the world and the challenges it faces.

The Sistine Chapel has been closed to the public since April 28 for conclave preparations.
