Thea Gagate named PVL Rookie of the Year

Thea Gagate, selected as the first overall pick in the inaugural Rookie Draft of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), has been named Rookie of the Year for her outstanding debut season.

Gagate's contributions helped ZUS Coffee secure its first playoff appearance and significantly improved the team's performance from a winless squad to playoff contenders.

The PVL Press Corps Awards Night, set for May 28 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City, will formally recognize Gagate with Rookie of the Year honors based on her weighted score of 148.1 points.

Gagate led all rookies and middle blockers in total blocks and was also among the top scorers with 190 points, earning one of the two Best Middle Blocker awards for her rookie campaign.

During her debut season, Gagate had a total of 48 blocks and ranked second overall with a 0.74 per set average, making her the top scorer among middle blockers and 14th in the league.
