Brittany Tamayo, Ralph B Vatican win PGT titles

Brittany Tamayo and Ralph B Vatican emerged victorious in their respective divisions on Tuesday at the ICTSI Mactan Island Junior PGT Championship, setting them up as frontrunners for the South team in the national finals.

Tamayo, from South Cotabato, clinched the girls' title with a 36-hole total of 150 after rallying past overnight leader Zuri Bagaloyos on Tuesday, while B Vatican secured his wire-to-wire victory in the boys' division with an impressive three-under 65.

Early morning showers added length and difficulty to the rain-softened Mactan Island Golf Course, presenting an additional challenge for finalists across four age-group divisions during the first leg of the seven-part Visayas-Mindanao Series organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc.

Participants highlighted the importance of adjusting their strategies to the course conditions in order to achieve success, with Tamayo and B Vatican demonstrating adaptability and focus throughout the tournament.

Denise Mendoza reaffirmed her dominance in the youngest girls' age category, while Ethan Lago secured a decisive victory in the boys' 7-10 division, driven by their desire to make their families proud.
