Suzuki wins boys' 15-18 category at Splendido Taal leg

Shinichi Suzuki secured victory over Zachary Villaroman by three strokes in the ICTSI Junior PGT Championship's Splendido Taal leg with a total of 72, finishing under challenging wind conditions on Wednesday.

In the girls' 15-18 category, Rafa Anciano won for the second consecutive time despite a tough final round, outscoring Angelica Bañez by 36 strokes to claim her title.

Mavis Espedido continued her impressive performance by sweeping all three tournaments in the 7-10 category, while Ryuji Suzuki and Mona Sarines emerged victorious in their respective categories of boys' 15-18 and girls' 11-14.

Suzuki attributed his success to staying patient and learning from his experience in Japan, where he refined his club selection and learned to play with the wind. The tournament concluded with Villaroman leading the points race for the national finals despite finishing second in this leg.

The series will now pause before resuming with the Visayas-Mindanao (Vis-Min) swing starting in Mactan, Cebu on May 5.
