Junior golfers compete in Mactan Island Championship

The ICTSI Mactan Island Junior PGT Championship began with tight competition across six age-group divisions at the challenging Mactan Island Golf Course on Monday, May 5.

In the girls' 15-18 category, Niña Balangauan and Lois Laine Go shared the lead with identical five-over-par scores of 73 under sweltering conditions.

Balangauan credited her strong back nine performance for her score, while Laine Go highlighted her putting skills as a key factor.

In the boys' 15-18 division, Alexis Nailga and Nyito Tiongko III tied for first place with scores of 77, with Nailga benefiting from Tiongko's bogey on the ninth hole.

Davao's Ethan Lago and Cebu's Kvan Alburo led in the boys' 7-10 category after posting identical scores of 78.

In girls' 11-14, Zuri Bagaloyos emerged as the leader with a score of 76, followed closely by Margaux Espina and Brittany Tamayo.
