Marcy Teodoro wins Marikina 1st but Comelec suspends

Suspended Marikina Mayor Marcelino 'Marcy' Teodoro won the race for Marikina's 1st District representative seat, but his return to Congress is uncertain as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc suspended his proclamation pending resolution of an electoral complaint questioning his eligibility.

Teodoro received 75,062 votes compared to Senator Aquilino 'Koko' Pimentel III's 29,091 votes according to the City Board of Canvassers in Marikina, and unofficial results show he obtained 74,527 votes against Koko Pimentel’s 28,866.

The Comelec also suspended the proclamation of Darwin Sia as Manila 2nd District councilor pending resolution of an election complaint against him.

Teodoro faces a preventive suspension order from the Office of the Ombudsman and allegations of vote buying, with the Ombudsman ordering his suspension in relation to alleged misallocation of P130 million funds for the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

Despite these challenges, Teodoro expressed hope that voters would make the right choice.

Marcelino Teodoro is expected to switch positions with his wife Marjorie Ann 'Maan' Teodoro who won the mayoral race against Marikina 2nd District Representative Stella Quimbo.
