Storm Kristine evacuates 36,185 families in Pangasinan and La Union

Evacuees from Bangar town in La Union and various areas in Pangasinan fled ahead of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine starting Wednesday night.

By Thursday, Oct. 24, about 768 families comprising 2,521 individuals were evacuated across Pangasinan and La Union due to storm surge advisories issued by the weather bureau.

As of Friday morning, around 1,300 families (4,495 individuals) in Pangasinan have been provided with meals and hygiene kits; food packs from various organizations are available at evacuation centers.

The storm has affected a total of 36,185 families or 150,469 individuals across the province, causing damage to roads, power supply, and infrastructure, including 42 damaged houses, with initial damages estimated at PHP139.39 million.

Classes remain suspended in Pangasinan and La Union as of Friday due to expected bad weather conditions.
