Lady Blazers advance to Shakey's Super League playoff round

The Lady Blazers secured a 2-1 record in Pool D and became the last NCAA team standing in the 2024 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship, joining seven UAAP squads in the playoff round.

Veteran Wielyn Estoque led her team with a game-high 13 points, contributing significantly to their victory over San Sebastian College-Recoletos on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Despite facing a close third set against the Lady Stags, the Lady Blazers showed composure and clinched victory with a match-ending 4-0 run sparked by Clydel Catarig, who added six points in the final set.

Coach Jerry Yee praised his team for their improvement in maturity and responsiveness, emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure during games.

The Lady Blazers will face University of the East in Pool E on Sunday as they enter the second round-robin phase with a chance to earn twice-to-beat advantages in the crossover quarterfinals.
