Romualdez gives Marcos '10 out of 10' rating, expects Sona focus on unity and social services

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez gave President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. a 'solid 10 out of 10' for his performance since last year, praising his strong leadership and dedication.

Romualdez anticipates the president will emphasize unity and the delivery of essential social services in his upcoming State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday.

The Speaker expects Marcos to propose priority bills focusing on economic development, healthcare, education, and infrastructure improvements, aiming for swift legislative passage.

Despite Romualdez's high rating, various sectors have criticized Marcos for failing to address issues such as rising prices, territorial security, and workers' wages.

A Pulse Asia survey released on July 17 showed a slight dip in Marcos's approval and trust ratings from March to June 2024.

Controlling inflation remains the top concern for Filipinos, with 72 percent of respondents feeling that rising prices should be addressed immediately.
