Lawmakers praise Marcos Jr.'s economic growth, infrastructure, and social programs

Several lawmakers expressed satisfaction with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s government achievements ahead of his third State of the Nation Address.

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez highlighted the Philippine economy's rapid growth under President Marcos' leadership, noting a 7.6 percent growth rate in 2022 and 6.4 percent in Q1 2023, surpassing Vietnam as Southeast Asia's fastest-growing economy.

Romualdez emphasized significant investments secured through international missions and strengthened diplomatic ties, driving economic growth with the country projected to remain a regional powerhouse through 2024 by the Asian Development Bank.

Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. praised the Build Better More program's impact on infrastructure development, such as reducing travel time across Luzon with new expressways.

Deputy Speaker David Suarez commended initiatives in sustainable energy, noting a commitment to renewable sources for future generations, including USD5 billion committed by Denmark’s Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to develop offshore wind projects.

Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe highlighted efforts to ensure no Filipino is left behind through programs like the revival of Kadiwa stores for affordable food supplies and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
