South Korean cyclist wins Tour of Luzon individual title

South Korean cyclist Joo Dae Yeung won P1 million as the individual champion of the Tour of Luzon 2025, while Standard Insurance Philippines (SIP) secured the top prize in the team category with P1.63 million.

The total cash pot for this year's event was raised to over P7 million by sports patron Manuel V. Pangilinan, surpassing previous years, with Joo Dae Yeung earning a total of P1,022,000 including stage-specific prizes.

All participating cyclists received their cash prizes immediately following the Closing Ceremony on Labor Day at Camp John Hay Convention Center, where MPT DriveHub won the Tour of Luzon Perpetual Trophy with a prize of P1 million.

The event garnered significant attention and engagement on social media platforms, featuring performances by popular band Ben&Ben to celebrate its success. Top individual earners included Joo Dae Yeung, Jan Paul Morales from SIP, Jonel Carcueva from MPTD, and Nichol Pareja from Victoria Sports Pro Cycling Team.

SIP emerged as the biggest cash winner with a total of P1,628,500, followed by MPT DriveHub (P1,557,000) and Gapyeong Cycling Team (GPCT, P1,062,500).
