IATF urges Duterte to decide on face shield policy

The national government is urging local government units to align their ordinances regarding face shields with the current policy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inter-Agency Task Force co-chairperson Karlo Nograles stated that President Duterte's memorandum mandates face shield use in hospitals and other specified places, while it remains voluntary elsewhere.

League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) President Presbitero Velasco Jr. emphasized that President Duterte has the authority under Republic Act 11494 to impose regulations concerning COVID-19 response.

The IATF recommended continuing mandatory face shield use in enclosed spaces, public transportation, and places of worship while awaiting the president's decision.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III reported that Duterte agreed face shields should only be used in hospitals during an event at Malacañang.
