DA to subsidize pork transport costs from Visayas, Mindanao

The Department of Agriculture (DA) will provide subsidies to pig farmers in Visayas and Mindanao to help transport their products to Metro Manila, aiming to stabilize pork prices.

Farmers in Mindanao will receive a P21 per kilogram subsidy, while those in the Visayas will get P15 per kilogram, and Luzon farmers will receive P10 per kilogram.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar met with Socospa members in General Santos City to negotiate pork shipments from Region 12 (Soccsksargen) to Metro Manila, aiming for a farm gate price of PHP144 per kilo and increasing weekly deliveries.
