Slovak tourist found dead in Boracay, PNP makes arrests

A 23-year-old Slovak woman found dead at an abandoned chapel on Boracay Island appeared to have been sexually abused and suffered blunt force trauma.

The victim, identified as Michaela Mickova, had arrived in Boracay on March 1 to attend a friend's wedding and was reported missing on March 10.

Philippine National Police (PNP) are coordinating with the Slovak Consulate regarding the case, and two persons of interest have been taken into custody.

Nine witnesses provided statements to authorities during a media briefing at Camp Crame.

Despite this incident, police maintain that Boracay remains safe for tourists, noting it is an isolated occurrence without similar past incidents.
