DOLE backs single-dose COVID-19 vaccine for OFWs

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and President Rodrigo Duterte support giving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s, to facilitate their return to work abroad.

Duterte instructed vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. to prioritize the vaccination of OFWs and seafarers with Western-made vaccines to meet employer requirements.

Bello noted that once vaccinated, OFWs will avoid stringent health screenings and quarantine requirements in their host countries.
