Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to hold first drug war hearing on Oct 28

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee (SBRC) will hold its first hearing on the war on drugs at 10am on Monday, October 28.

Senate President Francis Escudero and SBRC chair Senator Pia Cayetano agreed to appoint Aquilino Pimentel III as subcommittee chair for this investigation.

Cayetano emphasized that addressing illegal drug proliferation is of utmost importance to Filipino families affected by the issue.

The hearing will be presided over by Senate Committee on Justice chairman Senator Koko Pimentel, who was previously a member of Duterte's party and served as Senate president from 2016 to 2018.

Escudero aims to launch the probe 'as early as next week or before Congress resumes its sessions in November', following exposés accusing former President Rodrigo Duterte and other officials of incentivizing drug war killings.
