Escudero advises against Dela Rosa’s drug war probe

Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero advised Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa against leading any investigations related to the Duterte administration's war on drugs, citing potential bias.

Escudero suggested that a different Senate committee should handle the probe to avoid allegations of partiality and lack of fairness.

Dela Rosa had previously announced his intention to conduct an independent investigation into the drug campaign with former President Rodrigo Duterte as a resource person.

On Wednesday, October 16, Dela Rosa told reporters he would launch his own probe because he believes the Senate would be 'more balanced' than the House probe.

Former Senator Bong Go, a loyal ally of Duterte, also mentioned his willingness to file a resolution for a parallel probe into the matter.

Escudero will meet with Dela Rosa this weekend to discuss the investigation further.
