Sen. Imee Marcos confirms draft resolutions circulate to dismiss VP Duterte's impeachment

Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed Wednesday that several draft resolutions are being circulated to dismiss the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Marcos noted she has seen multiple versions of these drafts but emphasized that nothing is final yet, with one draft aiming to find a legally sound solution without loopholes.

Senate officials including Senate President Chiz Escudero and Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. stated no formal resolution seeking dismissal has been filed with the Senate as of now.

Escudero denied there was a resolution in the Senate seeking to dismiss Duterte's impeachment trial, adding that any circulating draft without an author is merely speculative.

Senators like Joel Villanueva and Risa Hontiveros have only seen copies in media group chats or are unaware of their existence, while Escudero said any circulating draft without a named author is just speculation.

Further fueling speculation, Sen. Bong Go stated he had not seen any such resolution, noting that many documents come and go through his desk.

Hours later, Sen. Bato Dela Rosa admitted to the media that the resolution came from his office, though he clarified that Vice President Duterte did not instruct him to do so.
