VP Sara Duterte resigns from Cabinet with heavy heart

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her regrets as she left the Department of Education on Thursday with 'a heavy heart', stating that her resignation from the Cabinet was not related to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

Duterte said she had personal reasons for leaving, stemming from discussions before agreeing to run as Vice President and didn't give further details about these reasons during an interview with media.

During a formal turnover ceremony at DepEd Central Office, Duterte handed over leadership to Senator Sonny Angara, who accepted the offer of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to serve in education.

Duterte outlined several achievements under her term and unfinished programs she hoped Angara would continue, including curriculum revisions and teacher benefits.

The vice president took a selfie with Department of Education officials and incoming Education Secretary Sonny Angara during the turnover ceremony before officially stepping down.
