VP Sara Duterte resigns from DepEd, denies First Lady's influence

Vice President Sara Duterte announced on Thursday that she resigned from her position as education secretary and vice chairperson of the NTF-ELCAC due to personal reasons.

When asked about his comment, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. simply responded 'Okay' in reference to Duterte's resignation.

Duterte categorically denied any involvement by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in her decision and emphasized that the latter's personal feelings do not influence her official duties.

The vice president had previously announced her resignation last month, citing multiple reasons including both personal and professional factors.

On Thursday, Duterte turned over the DepEd post to Senator Sonny Angara and stated she will not accept another Cabinet position under the Marcos administration.

Tensions between Duterte and Araneta-Marcos have been evident, particularly following Duterte's father's critical remarks about President Marcos at a prayer rally in Davao City.
