Samar placed under ECQ after first COVID case

Samar province and the towns of Sta. Margarita and Gandara in Samar have been placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in nearby Calbayog City.

Sta. Margarita Mayor Gemma Zosa declared a 24-hour curfew for 13 days, allowing only one person per household to leave for essential needs and workers with proof of employment or identification to go out.

Governor Reynolds Michael Tan issued an executive order placing the entire province under enhanced community quarantine from April 1 to April 15, restricting movements to essential workforces such as medical professionals, security personnel, media, and local government unit personnel.
