Robredo cites study showing 19 countries suppressed COVID without vaccines

Vice President Leni Robredo cited a study by The Lancet showing 19 countries, including Taiwan and South Korea, have suppressed new COVID-19 infections without vaccines.

Robredo argued it is possible for the Philippines to suppress the virus through non-pharmaceutical interventions like wearing masks and social distancing.

On Wednesday, Secretary Carlito Galvez responded that Robredo should first assess the situation on the ground before commenting.

Galvez emphasized the efforts of local government units and health workers in combating the pandemic.
