Residents arrested for mahjong during quarantine

Four residents of Barangay Nuro Poblacion in Upi, Maguindanao were arrested for playing mahjong during the enhanced community quarantine.

The arrest was made after authorities found them gambling with a set of mahjong tiles and P700 cash.

They will face charges under the Anti-Illegal Gambling Act and the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

The national government extended the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon until April 30, while some provinces in Visayas and Mindanao also imposed strict quarantines.

As of now, the Philippines has recorded 6,459 cases of COVID-19, including 428 deaths and 613 recoveries.
