Rep Ortega welcomes VP Sara back from Netherlands, jokes about gifts

La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega V welcomed Vice President Sara Duterte's return to the Philippines on Monday, April 7.

Ortega joked during a press conference that he didn't know if she would bring him gifts upon her return from her nearly month-long stay in the Netherlands and noted that she will be preparing for her impeachment trial.

Vice President Duterte returned late Sunday night after visiting her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who was detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

Ortega expressed support for Vice President Duterte's trip, despite his previous criticisms of her actions and noted that she would be preparing for upcoming months.

The House of Representatives impeached Vice President Duterte on February 6, citing seven offenses, with her impeachment trial expected to begin after President Marcos delivers the SONA in July.
